Foreshadowing: Could he actually be part of the Phoenix? Not exactly. Face Death with Dignity: Best illustrated during "Magic Stone Mayhem" when most of the Searchers are cornered and about to be executed via firing squad while everyone else flinches, he just stands there glaring. Later on it is shown he can launch Combined Energy Attacks and, in the last two episodes focus the energy of everyone they know, combining the bodies of several of his friends and reviving the Phoenix. Empowered Badass Normal: He's seen focusing energy in order to attack, as well as transferring it to others and putting it into his attacks. However, the dub dialogue never changes Genki's family name, nor does it ever suggest that Genki doesn't live in Japan. Now in English, the mail address lists him as "M. Dub Name Change: The dub changes the Japanese on the envelope Genki receives in Episode 1. Deus Exit Machina: Gets separated from the others a few times, typically to set up his Big Damn Heroes return. Curtains Match the Window: Brown eyes, brown hair. 
Genki's last name, Sakura(佐倉) is a homophone with the word Sakura(桜) which means cherry blossoms, which are a symbol of death and rebirth.
Cherry Blossom Girl: A male example alongside Mocchi.Character Development: He's pretty rash and dumb in the first season, but by the third he's grown into a seasoned fighter and mature young man who's learned the value of strategy as well as strength.
That doesn't stop him from fighting right alongside them.
Badass Normal: Being only human, he obviously doesn't have any special attacks like monsters. Ascended Fanboy: He was a fan of the games, and then goes inside one. Brash and impulsive, but his boundless energy and enthusiasm can prove catching.
